Who Owned Baseball Yesterday (May.17) – Updated MLB Yearly ‘WOB’ Standings

Danny Duffy retired the first 20 Orioles he faced and threw into the 8th letting up only 2 hits. He got the decision in the dramatic 1-0 Kansas City win.

Brandon Moss hit a 3 run homer to give the A’s a lead and wipe away the bad taste of an unwarranted ejection of their starting pitcher. Oakland would beat Cleveland, 6-2.

Edwin Jackson pitched 7 shutout innings, letting up just 4 hits and one walk while striking out 11 Brewers, getting the 3-0 win for the Cubs.

Paul Goldschmidt launched a pair of homers, a pair of homers and got on base 5 times, driving in 6, powering the Diamondbacks past the Dodgers, 18-7.

They owned baseball on May.17, 2014.

Bud Norris pitched into the 8th, finishing with 7 1/3 innings with 4 hits, 1 walk and 1 run. He would be a hardluck 1-0 loser as the Orioles fell to the Royals.

Justin Smoak got on base 3 times, including a double. He led off the 9th with a single and the Mariners down by a run. He would never be driven in as the Twins took the game, 4-3.

About chuckbooth3023

I played competitive baseball until 18 years old and had offers to play NCAA Division 1 University Baseball at Liberty University. Post-concussion symptoms from previous football and baseball head injuries forced me to retire by age 19. After two nearly made World Record Attempts in 2008, I set a New World Record by visiting all 30 MLB Parks (from 1st to last pitch) in only 24 Calendar Days in the summer 0f 2009. In April of 2012, I established yet another new GWR by visiting all 30 Parks in only 23 Calendar Days! You can see the full schedule at the page of the www.mlbreports.com/gwr-tracker . In 2015, I watched 224 MLB Games, spanning all 30 MLB Parks in 183 Days. Read about that World Record Journey at http://mlbreports.com/183in2015/229sked2015/
