Game #21 Day # 14 @7:05 PM Royals vs Blue Jays
Probable Pitchers:
KC-Sanchez 1-0
TOR-Drabek 2-0
Douglas ‘Chuck’ Booth (Baseball Writer)- I may not have Kauffman Stadium rated high on my list of baseball parks, but that doesn’t change the fact the waterfalls are still an iconic visual. The day will be full of flights. In order for Ken Lee and I to receive a great plane fare we had to fly through Minnesota onto Kansas City.
From there we are going to rent a truck from Alamo Car rental. Apparently there is some sort of chiropractic convention that took all rental cars for the day. It was the original thought of mine to include Ken on my journey right after. Wouldn’t you know that Ken works as a General Manager at Jackson & Hewitt Taxes-and the day before is the last date of tax season. His schedule was all cleared up. It all led to this trip.
We will look for a barbecue house on the way to the park to eat lunch. 34 miles from the Kansas City Airport will definitely broaden the possibilities. At Kauffman Stadium, I will park in the general lot for $10-12. There is adequate parking because of Arrowhead Stadium seats well over 70000 people and they left endless rows of concrete for parking. Ken did say it may be $1 hot dog night. If this is the case, I am definitely in for a mid-inning dinner. Our tickets will be the cheapest possible as we are going to watch the game from the right field party deck.
After the game we are driving all night to Chicago in order to make the noon game the next day at Wrigley Field. I am actually going to be driving through the state of Nebraska instead of going into the state about 10 feet in order to say I have been there as part of my 50 states. The drive is 500 miles and says to be about 7-8 hours. Ken is hardcore as it comes to driving to the next destination like I am. We will be in Chicago mega early with me taking the wheel for my first extended driving of the trip.
