Angel Stadium Game Plan Game#1 Day #1 Angels Stadium 1:05 PM
Probable Pitchers:
LAA-TBD -Haren
KC-TBD-Hochevar
Douglas ‘Chuck’ Booth (Baseball Writer)- I can’t tell you how displeased I am that the San Diego Padres decided to roll with 5:35 PM PST Saturday night start times this year. This will be a tight doubleheader with the Angels playing at 1:05 PM versus the Royals. The night before this I am going to see the Diamondbacks play at Chase Field The game on Friday April.06/2012 might be necessary if I can’t complete the double-header of LAA & SD on this night. I will have a chance to break through with a 2nd doubleheader attempt on April.10 when the LA Dodgers plays a 1:05 PM game, the Padres play at 7:05 PM game that night. This is becoming a scary proposition altogether. If I miss that 2nd opportunity I will go on Sunday Apr.22 and make the Chase Field game on Apr.06 the streak opener.
I will drive the 22 miles to Angel Stadium from LAX. I will park for free in a parking spot off of E Orangewood Ave that I know about. First I will stop for lunch at Little Caesars Pizza at W Chapman Ave. I am willingly paying out the $6 for a Large Pepperoni Pizza. I will fill myself full of pop from the 7-Eleven. This should curb my hunger and thirst at the ballpark. If I was going to stay in Los Angeles overnight for this game I would have stayed at the Los Angeles Fullerton hostel for $27 a night (is 7 miles drive from Angels Stadium), or at the Motel 6 on W. Chapman that runs about $55 a night. That hotel is 2 miles away and features an all-night Denny’s restaurant. There is nothing wrong with an all-day breakfast menu being open at all times.
My ticket for this game will cost around $15 to sit in the 300 section. I am planning on walking around the upper concourse to watch most of the games. Since this is the first of my 11 double-header opportunities I am keeping an eye on the clock. It will be my 1st chance to see Albert Pujols in a Angels uniform. I like watching games at this haloed park. I am praying for a game to run under 2 hours and 45 minutes. It is a 95 minute/100 mile drive to Petco Park. The Angels are a great team to watch in game #1, although I have to admit, I always miss seeing Vladmir Guerrero in Anaheim .
I would expect sunshine in Los Angeles. as I am starting off a 6 double-header attempts in the first seven days of the trip. If I can make San Diego for this doubleheader, I may have a chance to rest after the Los Angeles Dodgers game on the 10th. My favorite visual at this park are the water fountains that explode water and fireworks past center field. Other than hotdogs, I have never eaten anything at the ballpark that comes to mind. There are just too many other options right near the park. There is a McDonalds right down the street, of course I already mentioned the Denny’s only a mile away to Little Caesars Pizza. Further down southeast on W Chapman Street there is also a Burger King.
